Dual Screen : Deux écrans, Deux workspaces ?

Bonjour,
Suite a la récupération d'un petit écran VGA, je me suis mis en tête de me configurer un dual screen.

N'ayant pas d'adaptateur DVI-D / VGA sous la main, j'ai donc connecté cet écran au chipset (Intel ), tant dis que l'écran principal est plugué à ma carte mère (une GeForce 1080 ).
J'en ai sué toute une journée comme un rat mort ( rat, XFCE, vous l'avez ? ) pour configurer tout ça, et ça fonctionne à peu près.
J'ai un black screen une fois sur deux, mais un petit "xset dpms force off && xset dpms force on" au démarrage et ça passe.
Bref.

Le problème qui se pose c'est que je ne peux pas utiliser un workspace par écran.
Actuellement, je peux juste glisser des fenetres ou des icones vers mon deuxieme écran, et c'est tout.
Celles ci restent attachées à la barre des taches du premier.
En gros j'ai juste un fond d'écran de base XFCE sur lequel je peux balancer des trucs. Mais pas un réel espace de travail.


Voici ce que j'ai essayé de faire :
J'ai d'abord tenté, tout simplement, de mettre un tableau de bord, en ajoutant un élément "bouton des fenetres" : Raté, ce "bouton des fenetres" n'est qu'un clone du premier.

J'ai ensuite essayé awesome : Impossible de le faire fonctionner correctement, bug graphiques de partout, aucune fonction ne répondait, j'ai laissé tomber.

J'ai essayé pas mal de montages hasardeux dans nvidia.conf : Je n'y suis pas parvenu.


J'ai écumé Google, j'ai trouvé pas mal de sujets qui en parlait, mais aucune solution, a part quelques bidouillages a base de devilspie ou autres, mais ce n'est pas ce que je veux.

Euh... Oui, c'est le gestionnaire de fenetre par défaut de Xfce.
Il ne permet que quelques reglages minimes, ce n'est pas du tout ce que je souhaite faire.

Bonjour
Bien que ma configuration est différente puisque que le second écran est la TV en HDMI, le gestionnaire d'affichage devrait te permettre de mettre les écrans en clone ou en extension de bureau.
Dans ce cas, j'ai bien un deuxième bureau contigu et je passe mes fenêtre d'un écran à l'autre. Une chose a anticiper toutefois reste le compositeur dont les réglages affectent simultanément les deux écrans. Autre point aussi est le papier peint du second écran qui est celui de Xfce par défaut et non celui que tu as choisi si différent du bureau principal.
Je me sers de cette configuration quand je bricole avec Ardour: une fenêtre pour les potards et l'autre pour l'édition.

C'est exactement le cas dans lequel je suis (sauf que tu l'as fichtrement bien expliqué ).
Effectivement, ça dépanne, ça fait toujours un écran en plus.

Sauf que je souhaitais un réel environnement de travail secondaire, un deuxieme bureau sur mon deuxieme écran.
J'ai spécifiquement besoin de mettre un workspace sur cet écran.

Alors, dans un élan "d'à-la-louchisme" mâtinal :siffle , & si ta babasse a les "chevaux" nécessaires*, pourquoi ne pas lâcher une machine virtuelle en pleine écran avec ta distro préfèrée installée dedans sur le deuxième écran (en mode étendue) ?
Bon, pas de glissage direct entre les deux, mais avec le partage activé depuis la distro hôte & quelques ajustements** sur l'invitée , un répertoire d'échange...

*: En principe, moitié moins de chevaux de RAM sur l'invitée...
**: sudo systemctl start vboxservice && sudo systemctl enable vboxservice && sudo chmod 755 /media && sudo gpasswd -a $USER vboxsf à passer sur l'invitée pour y accéder après un reboot comme simple utilisateur dans /media/sf_répertoirepartagé, ce dernier (sans sf_) devant exister sur l'hôte & être configuré/monté dans Virtualbox (ou autre mais je connais pas trop..!).

J'utilise déjà XRandR pour mon dualscreen, et le dual workspace n'est pas possible ^^

Héhé, j'y ai pensé, mais j'utilise deja plusieurs machines virtuelles pour le boulot.
Donc en plus du coté pas très pratique, je vais trop perdre en performances :).

Je ne suis pas sur de moi, car je ne les utilise pas, mais c'est peut être possible avec "les activités" sous KDE.
Tu peux faire des recherches là dessus ou attendre que quelqu'un qui l'es utilise confirme, ou pas.

J'ai lu que c'était plus simple sous KDE effectivement.
J'ai essayé vite fait en mode live, rien de concluant ( pas de reboot ).
Si il n'y à pas de solution j'essaierai en dur, en envisageant la possibilité de passer sous KDE mais bon...
Si je peux rester sous Xfce ça m'arrange ;).
